Grabs

Grabs

While in the air, if the rider reaches down to the board and clasps their hand on it, it's a "Grab". There are lots of different types of grabs and many variations that can be done alone or added to other tricks.
When it comes to adding a grab to a trick, the same principles apply to wake-to-wake jumps as inverts. Grabs add style to an individual's riding and can be added to all tricks.
  • Grab the board once you're in the air. Its helpful to look exactly where you're going to grab before you attempt this move. Bring the board to you! Bending your body for a grab will pull you out of proper body position.
  • Keep the handle as close to your hips as possible. This will allow you to control your rotation when performing an invert or a poke.
  • Let go of the board and prepare for your landing by looking at the horizon.
